Sydney to Hobart Celebrations 5th September 2019

A special celebration event was held at Arundells, to mark the 50th Anniversary of Sir Edward Heath winning the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, in 1969.   He was on his first "Morning Cloud" yacht, which, with an LOA of 34ft was the smallest boat in the fleet.

It was held in the gardens, and included talks by two outstanding yachtsmen, in Jeremy Robinson, and Mike Austin.   There was also a small, but very well received talk by Duncan Kay, who was a crew member on this winning boat.

A beautiful buffet was prepared by the House staff, and with access to the Exhibition Room, which was featuring comprehensive information on the race, as well as access to the house, a good time was had by all those attending.

Work on the next Sailing talk is now underway, and it is hoped this will be held in the Spring next year.
